Our community center had a Haunted House and my daughter and I provided a bake sale for the event. Culinary geeks that we are, we overworked ourselves and could hardly keep our eyes open while selling them! Good thing Grandma Dixie was there to help us with our customers!

Silly monsters for the kids. Okay, every baker has their regrets; hindsight tells me that his hair looks like a unibrow – Now that’s scary!

Big googly-eyed spiders! They’re web designers.

Jack Skellington was the hit of the night! My daughter made these. She gets really crazy about Jack!

Little carrot raisin muffins feel prettier with a ribbon.

Adorable, creative, tired witches feel prettier with black lipstick.

Speaking of witches, how about witch finger cookies, complete with wart! How? We used icing to stick a green M&M on them and then covered them in a simple powdered sugar icing which was a creepy green. The fingernail was a sliced almond.

IMG_3517

And finally, six feet under bars! We used jewelry boxes lined with cardstock. We then placed 7 layers bars inside each box and laid the toy skeleton to rest on top of the bars and wrapped them. We covered the top with theme fitting scrapbook paper and added a little RIP label and of course a ribbon makes everything better.

errr….lovely cupcakes and biscuits? very nicely done! I am impressed. We don’t celebrate Halloween in a big scale here.

  19. October 28, 2009 4:06 pm

cute Halloween treats, everything looks so spooktastic :)

  20. October 29, 2009 11:40 am

Oooh! That party looks so fun!
Treat: I love the cat crap cake idea (tootsie rolls rolled in crushed nuts or broken cookies) to look like cat poop that top a cake with crushed cookies on the frosted top.
Drink down the cake with blood-red punch with frozen hands in it (using latex gloves sans the powder!).
Halloween is so much fun! I wish I lived by the bakery – I miss real bakeries. They are sssssooooooo much better than the ‘walbarf’ we have here!

  21. October 30, 2009 10:55 pm

what an awesome bake sale. Those cupcakes look so good. I have a hard time frosting cupcakes and always want to do it for my 3 year old. Any suggestions on how to make designs on cup cakes with a toddler?

    • December 26, 2009 6:54 pm

My kids are teens now so it’s been awhile since I’ve had to adjust to toddlers and frosting coming together in the same kitchen! :) Knowing me, I probably gave them a few to decorate and then I did the rest. lol
